Frogs

NRM Education is partnering with Zoos SA's Frog Atlas for the frog monitoring component of Engaging with Nature.

Register online at Frog Atlas to learn about some of Australia’s frogs, while helping to build an interactive map of frog distributions. The Atlas is the next stage of two long-term Frog Census programs that have been running in South Australia and Melbourne.

Creating Frog Ponds

The Zoos SA Frog Atlas website has a great booklet which outlines some of the things to consider when developing a frog pond. It includes information on suitable plants and frog-friendly fish that can be added to the pond. The booklet can be accessed here

DECD schools should also note that DECD has a policy in regards to creating ponds and wetlands. See www.decd.sa.gov.au/assetservices/pages/topiclisting/Wetlands/ for further details.
