WaterWatch

Waterwatch is a national water quality monitoring initiative established in 1992 through which people in the community become actively involved in protecting and managing local waterways and catchments. Last year, 10,000 volunteers monitored 5000 sites and over 150,000 students participated in curriculum-linked, hands-on education programs, nationwide.

The New Internationalist is an independent not-for-profit community service organisation, working towards a better planet for the next generation. They have a comprehensive index to the magazine back issues available on the Internet, with over 13,300 articles available online for free access.

Creating Frog Ponds

The Zoos SA Frog Atlas website has a great booklet which outlines some of the things to consider when developing a frog pond. It includes information on suitable plants and frog-friendly fish that can be added to the pond.

Urrbrae Wetland Learning Centre Website

This website focuses on the programs offered by the Urrbrae Wetland Learning Centre, suited to school groups from junior primary to senior school as well as interested members of the community. The website includes resources and activity sheets specific to the Urrbrae Wetland and ideas on how to implement different environmental themes into many learning areas including science, SOSE, maths, the arts and english.
