Youth Voice

The Youth Action Approach to environmental sustainability enables students to lead change in their school and community. Students are supported to become actively involved in decision-making, planning and taking action within the school and local community, whilst achieving environmental and educational outcomes linked to the Australian Curriculum.
NRM Education supports Youth Action Groups in schools and runs several programs to build the capacity of students as change agents within their schools:
Youth Environment Forums.
These involve students researching, taking action and presenting on a topic of their interest that will help their school community achieve greater environmental sustainability.
Youth Environment Council (YEC) of SA
Students participating in Youth Environment Fourms can nominate to be a part of the YEC and represent youth across the state. YEC members participate in additional leadership workshops and collect young people’s environmental concerns, recommendations and action plans to take to the government.
Mentoring Student Environment/Youth Action Groups
NRM Education can assist student environment groups or youth action groups to develop plans and projects within their schools. NRM Education also has a number of resources that can assist student groups to explore sustainability.
